The notes of “Taps” will once more fill the air every evening as the famous 24-note call is sounded in Gettysburg National Cemetery from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The Lincoln Fellowship of Pennsylvania and Gettysburg National Military Park will co-sponsor the seventh year of One Hundred Nights of Taps, in partnership with Taps for Veterans and Gettysburg’s Licensed Battlefield Guides.

A Legacy of Stewardship: Introductory Mansion Program

1:30 pm to 3:30 pm Daily.
See inside the Point Reyes Lighthouse and discover its history and function with a park ranger. Access requires a strenuous descent and ascent of 313 stairs. The stairs close when weather and winds are hazardous, i.e., if the winds are in excess of 40 mph (64 kmph). The clockwork room (the second-level chamber)—which houses the original clockworks and from which one can get a close look at the first-order Fresnel lens—is open with a ranger present daily from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm from Monday, July 1, 2024, until Monday, September 2, 2024.

Step inside <a id="anch_7" href="https://www.nps.gov/places/aspet-saint-gaudens-nhp.htm">the home of Augustus and Augusta Saint-Gaudens</a>. A docent will be available to answer questions and share history about the home, family, and Cornish Colony of artists.

Tours consist of a guided walk around the grounds and support buildings, followed by a climb up the lighthouse tower to learn about the tower’s original Fresnel lens. At the top, and experience a breathtaking view of Lake Superior and the Grand Sable Dunes.
Participants must be wearing closed-toed shoes to climb the tower, children cannot be carried up the light station tower, backpacks cannot be worn in the tower.

Au Sable Light Station Tours

To enter all cliff dwellings you must have a reservation on a ranger-led tour. A tour of Balcony House is one of the most adventurous in the park and not for the faint-of-heart. You will scale the face of a cliff via several tall ladders, squeeze your way through a narrow tunnel on your hands and knees, and explore some of the same passages used over 800 years ago! For those ready for the challenge, this tour offers you the chance to follow in the footsteps of the Ancestral Pueblo residents who lived there. <h4>What to Expect</h4>
On this one-hour tour to Balcony House, you will climb a 32 ft (9.8 m) ladder, crawl through an 18 in (45 cm) wide by 27 in (68 cm) tall tunnel extending 12 ft (3.7 m) long, and climb up a 65 ft (20 m) open cliff face with 31 ft of steep uneven stone steps and two 18 ft (5.5 m) ladders to exit. Children must be capable of climbing the ladders on their own. Infants must be placed in a carrier and the adults carrying them must be able to maintain mobility and balance. Know your physical health before joining a tour of Balcony House, especially if you have heart or respiratory problems, or other physical difficulties. Elevations range between 7,000 and 7,500 ft (2134 m and 2286 m) above sea level. You should plan for all weather possibilities because conditions can vary.

An explosion shook the earth early in the morning, on July 30, 1864. This started the battle of the Crater. Join a Park Ranger for a 30-45-minute program discussing the Pennsylvania soldiers who engineered and constructed the over 500-foot tunnel, the strategies and brutalities of the battle, the role of Black troops in the battle, and Confederate General William Mahone's counterattack.

Bear Aware

Sculptures by Augustus Saint-Gaudens stand across the country. Join this daily tour to learn about the many stories that surround these works of art. Each program explores the people remembered in these iconic monuments, shares often overlooked perspectives about their impact, and invites you to reflect on sculpture's relevance today.
This 45-minute ranger guided program includes several outdoor stops throughout the park's historic core.

Beyond the Bronze

Join a ranger and learn some basic birding techniques while enjoying a scenic farmland and wetlands. Binoculars will be provided.

Birding at the Farm

Black Heritage at Fort Monroe will explore some of the diverse and dynamic history found here at "Freedom's Fortress."
All are welcome. Program expected to be about 1 hour in length and 2/3 mile in distance.

Join a park ranger on the lawn of the visitor center for a short talk about topics ranging from geology, to plants, to wildlife, to history. This program is offered every day from 9:30 until 10:30am and again from 2:00 until 3:00pm. In the event of inclement weather (storms or temperatures above 95 degrees F), this program will move inside the visitor center.

Bluffs Banter

Programs are held beside the flagpole at the Memorial Plaza. Called to Action is a ranger program revisiting the Flight 93 story within the context of the September 11, 2001 terrrorist attack. This 30-minute program is held where visitors can sit on benches and listen to a ranger talk about aspects of the terrorist's plan, personal stories of passengers and crew, as well as the obstacles the passengers and crew overcame to thwart Flight 93 from hitting the terrorist's planned target.

Calling in the Cavalry

Join National Park Service rangers for free campfire talks at Presidio Tunnel Tops' Campfire Circle near the Presidio Visitor Center everyday at 4 pm - 4:30pm  through Labor Day.
Park rangers will present histories of the diverse people who have passed through the Presidio through time – this includes indigenous history, military stories including the Buffalo Soldiers' stories, Japanese Americans interned during WWII, and more.

Chalmette Battlefield - Battle of New Orleans Talk

Learn all about chickens and their role on an American farm. Guided by a Park Ranger, you will visit the feed barn, see the chicken coop, and even try feeding the chickens! 
This program is great for all ages. Children must be supervised by an adult for the entirety of the activity.

Cliff Palace is the largest known cliff dwelling in North America. Built between 1190 and 1280 CE, Cliff Palace was once home to over 100 people. Today, it stands as a testament to the engineering and artistic achievements of the Ancestral Pueblo people. Each tour is limited to 50 people.
On this 45-minute ranger-led tour, you will descend uneven stone steps and climb four ladders, with an elevation change of 100 ft (30 m). Total walking distance is 1/4 mile (0.4 km). All persons, including children, must be capable of climbing the ladders on their own. Infants must be placed in a carrier and the adults carrying them must be able to maintain mobility and balance while climbing.

Join a ranger on this 1.5-mile (2.4-km) guided hike that leads you to majestic views atop Clingmans Dome Observation Tower. Hike through the park’s unique spruce fir forest and discover all that the Smokies has to offer.

Cultural Demonstrations take place between 10 am and 3 pm at the Painted Desert Inn. Schedule is subject to change without notice. At this time, the park features mainly Diné (Navajo), Hopi, and Zuni Tribes, but welcome members of any of the park's affiliated Tribes. Demonstration includes beading, painting, weaving, basketry, silversmithing, dancing, and storytelling.

Explore the exciting history of the Curry Village Historic District on this hour-long guided tour. Meet at the Curry Village Amphitheater (Shuttle stops 14 &amp; 19.)

Ranger Talks: Attend a 30 minute interpretive program on a historical or cultural topic related to the park. All talks start at the Grand View Terrace. Talk schedule is dependent on available staff. Please check in the Visitor Center or Information Center desks to learn more.
Studio Talks: Attend a 15 minute interpretive program on the carving process and history of the sculpture. All talks are conducted inside the Sculptor's Studio. Talks begin at: 9:00am, 10:00am, 11:00am, 12:00pm, 1:00pm, 2:00pm, and 3:00pm.
Cultural Programs: Join Indigenous artists, musicians, and storytellers as they share their culture and history with visitors. There are two types of programs visitors can choose from:

<li>Heritage Village: Located along the Presidential Trail, Heritage Village is staffed by Lakota artisans from 9am until 4:30pm. These artisans will share their stories, perspectives, and histories with visitors throughout the day.</li>
<li>Hoop Dancing: Hoop dancing will be performed daily on the Grand View Terrace at 9am. </li>
</ul>
 
Evening Lighting Ceremony: Attend a 45-minute program that includes a ranger talk, short film, sculpture illumination, and a veteran's ceremony. Program begins daily at the Amphitheater at 8:00pm. Visitors are encouraged to arrive fifteen minutes early to secure seating.

Daily Activities At Mount Rushmore

The 19-minute park orientation film Determined to Persevere: The Valley Forge Encampment is shown daily on the hour and the half-hour in the Theater at Valley Forge. The first screening is at 9:30 AM and the final screening is at 4:30 PM.
The movie, narrated by Laura Linney, tells the story of the winter 1777-1778 encampment of the Continental Army at Valley Forge, and was filmed on location in 2018 and 2019.
If you are unable to attend a screening of the orientation film during a visit to the park, you can always watch it online.

Daily Orientation Film Screenings

Join us for our daily ranger guided tour! Get an overview of what makes Pullman special. Each tour last approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. Tours are offered at 10 am, 11 am, and 2 pm. Tours subject to cancellation due to staffing, special events, inclement weather, or wind chill advisories.

Costumed rangers conduct a variety of program offerings that vary from day to day. Daily programs begin June 2, 2024 through September 30, 2024. In October the programs are held on Saturdays and Sundays from October 5 to October 27. Programs are generally held between 10:00 am- 12:00 pm in the morning and 2:00 pm- 4:00 pm in the afternoon. Advance reservations are recommended. Tickets must be picked up at The Encampment Store gift shop in the <a id="/places/visitor-center-valley-forge.htm|" href="https://www.nps.gov/places/visitor-center-valley-forge.htm">Visitor Center at Valley Forge</a>. Reserved tickets that have not been claimed are released five minutes prior to scheduled tours. Please plan to arrive at the Visitor Center no later than 30 minutes prior to the tour’s departure.

Deep Creek highlights the gushing waterfalls and streams of the Smokies. Join a ranger on this walk to discover these wonders and learn about the natural and cultural history of the area.

How do we remember George Washington? In Cambridge, Washington took the national stage in the fight for American liberty even as he continued to enslave over a hundred people in Virgina. This conversational tour examines Washington during the early American Revolution, his legacy, and the building of public memory.

Defending the Carry

Discover Aztec with a ranger or volunteer! These are 30 minute presentations usually given in the Great Kiva, but can vary in topic and location. These programs are open to all and free. Please note, these are not tours. The Aztec West great house is fully self-guided. Two programs are given daily at 10:00am and 11:30am, staff and weather dependent.
 
Come learn about the engineering of the Great Kiva, Chacoan roads, bats, the Animas River and more! Call the visitor center at (505) 334-6174 with any questions.

Discover Aztec: Ranger Programs

Discovery Hikes are challenging, off-trail hikes led by park rangers. They are a great way for the adventurous and well-prepared to explore the heart of Denali! These hikes travel everywhere, so expect uneven terrain, water crossings, close encounters with dense vegetation, and unpredictable weather. During the registration process, rangers at the visitor center will provide details about upcoming hikes, including the approximate distance and elevation gain.

Discovery Hike

Join the Yosemite Mountaineering School for a guided group hike in Yosemite Valley!
Half-day and full-day group hikes are offered from May through October for hikers of all experience levels. Bring a small backpack with at least 2 liters of water (some situations require more), snacks, lunch, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and extra layers.

All hikers must be at least 12 years old.

Discovery Hike: Vernal Fall Footbridge (Yosemite Valley)

Immerse yourself in Smokies history! See how families survived here with demonstrations such as blacksmithing, fencing, or broom making. Program topic varies. Check the Oconaluftee Visitor Center for more information.

Down on the Farm (Accessible)

Stop by the mill area to watch (and possibly try) historic demonstrations related to life in Cades Cove. Demos will vary from day to day but may include blacksmithing, Appalachian music, quilting, storytelling, doll-making, weaving, or other skills.

Ebenezer Baptist Church Talk

Join a Park Ranger at the Tower of Voices to learn about how it honors the crew and passengers of Flight 93 through sound and symbolism. Reflect on the ways that September 11, 2001, and Flight 93 have changed individuals, societies, and nations.

Echoes of Courage

Fort McHenry is the first site to receive a presidential proclimation requiring that the site fly a flag 24/7, 365 days a year. Join park staff in the mornings or evenings as we change out our flags for the day and learn about the flag's significance to the park's history. Flag change programs occure daily. In the mornings the park raises a larger replica of a historic flag and in the evenings an overnight all-weather flag is raised over the fort. 
 *Flag changes are weather dependent.

Experience the solitude of this unique area and opportunities to connect to nature in a meaningful way during an intimate Ranger-guided hike. Follow Lake Creek to a beautiful view of Phelps Lake and the southern Teton range. Bring water, snacks, and insect repellent. Limited group size, reservations required: 307-739-3654

Learn more about the wonders of Mesa Verde National Park. Join a park ranger each evening from August 10 to September 1, at 8:30 pm (weather and ranger availability permitting). A different topic is explored every night. Bring warm layers &amp; a flashlight.

Join Ranger Juliet at the Saddlehorn Amphitheater for an evening program about our Wilderness. It's recommended that you bring a flashlight and insect repellent.
Parking is available at the Saddlehorn Picnic Area.

Everglades Backcountry Boat Tour (Flamingo)

Programs at Exit Glacier are offered every day throughout the summer season.
Lasting about 1 hour, 30 minutes, the walk will follow the trail to the Glacier Overlook. The first part of the program will follow the trail to the Glacier View lookout, and is wheelchair accessible. The second part climbs 300 feet in elevation over uneven terrain.
